The performer awards went to Laura Selle Virtucio (Shapiro and Smith Dance), Eva Mohn (TU Dance) and Roxane Wallace (Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater).
Two awards were given for design, to Lisa Axell for costume design in "Baby Shower," and Renee LaCourse, Mary Beach, Catherine LaCourse, Donald LaCourse, Mark Paulson and Mary Petros for Ethnic Dance Theater's "Crescent Moon."
Colleen Callahan, a dance instructor at Southwest High School in Minneapolis, received the educator award. A special citation was presented to Steve Busa and Miriam Must of Red Eye Theater. The People's Choice award (selected through anonymous online votes) recognized tap dancer Kaleena Miller.
Judith Howard and Morris Johnson served as hosts for the event, which included performances by previous Sage winners.
New concert booker
AEG Live, the California-based concert promoter known for staging tours by Prince and Justin Timberlake, has opened an office in Minneapolis with Brad Saks as talent buyer. He most recently booked rock shows in Mexico for a New York promoter. Minneapolis becomes AEG's 12th regional office. The company took over management of Target Center this year. AEG also has presented the Coachella music festival, American Idols Live and Celine Dion's show in Las Vegas.
