Applications available for 2010 MN Fringe Festival

Last update: November 17, 2009 - 5:43 AM

MINNEAPOLIS - Attention, aspiring theatrical producers: It's time to start thinking of your projects for the 2010 Minnesota Fringe Festival.

Applications for next year's festival became available Monday. Entries are due in the Fringe office in Minneapolis by 5 p.m. Central time Friday, Jan. 29, 2010.

The annual festival is non-juried. But since so many applications are received, a lottery will be held on Feb. 17 at the Bedlam Theatre in Minneapolis to determine the winning entrants.

In 2009, the Fringe set an all-time attendance record, issuing more than 46,000 tickets to 162 shows in its 11-day run.

Fringe shows run the gamut, from musicals to kids' shows to spoken-word performances.

The first Minnesota Fringe was held in 1993. The 2010 Fringe runs from Aug. 5-15.
