THE SEAFARER

Opening: Director Joel Sass did a crackling production of Conor McPherson's "Shining City" two years ago at the Jungle Theater. Sass returns to the master of Irish storytelling with this yarn, featuring Stephen Yoakam as an ex-con who encounters an oddly familiar figure from his past (Phil Kilbourne). Allen Hamilton, Patrick Bailey and Mark Rhein complete the cast. McPherson's ghost story provides for great histrionics and imagery. The personnel and Sass' history with McPherson give this piece a good chance to make for chilling theater. (7:30 p.m. today-Sat., Tue.-Thu., Jungle Theater, 2971 Lyndale Av. Opening: Who's the biggest name in town right now? Brett Favre. So if you were making up a title for your Christmas comedy revue, whose name would you use? Brett Favre. The Brave New Workshop understands how to market. Their annual holiday show will include both the Shrieking Mothers and Angry Fathers versions of "The 12 Days of Christmas" and a pile of other sketches featuring Lauren Anderson, Josh Eakright, Mike Fotis and Bobby Gardner.
