Spotlight: "Carmina Burana" by Minnesota Dance Theater

Last update: October 31, 2009 - 2:24 PM

'CARMINA BURANA'

Opens Thursday: This Minnesota Dance Theater production draws inspiration from 13th-century poetry written by a roving band of merry-making monks; these sensuous, often bawdy rhymes are still fresh despite their advanced age. The work, originally choreographed by Loyce Houlton and revived by Lise Houlton with Dominique Serrand, is set to a classic orchestration by composer Carl Orff and features several vocalists, including the Minnesota Chorale. Shown are Melanie Verna and Sam Feipel. (8 p.m. Thu.-Sat., 7 p.m. next Sun. $24-$33. Ends Nov. 8. The Lab Theater, 700 N. 1st St., Mpls. 612-333-7977 or thelabtheater.org.)
