The Minnesota Fringe Festival is branching outside of Minneapolis.
The 2009 Fringe will include one St. Paul venue — the Gremlin Theatre. The other 21 sites are all in Minneapolis.
Fringe spokesman Matthew Foster says the festival is "making more of a concerted effort to put 'Minnesota' in 'Minnesota Fringe.'"
This year's Fringe will feature 162 shows with a total of 850 performances. Shows range from spoken-word performances to children's shows. The redesigned Fringe Web site — http://www.fringefestival.org — goes live around noon Wednesday with the schedule of shows and ticket information.
This is the 16th annual Minnesota Fringe Festival. It runs from July 30 through Aug. 9.
