STACIA RICE
STACIA RICE
Stacia Rice's career began to blossom in 2004 when she caught the eye of Guthrie artistic associate John Miller Stephany, and she understudied the "Othello" tour that year. In 2005, though, Rice really flourished. She opened the year in "The Ice Glen," a new work at Florida Stage. She returned to the Twin Cities to star in Gremlin's "Wait Until Dark." Her most-celebrated turn of the year came last spring when she co-produced an Equity Showcase of "A Streetcar Named Desire," which featured her as Blanche Dubois in a limpid and achingly beautiful performance that won her an Ivey Award in September. By August, she scored her biggest role on the Guthrie main stage as the flapper Louise in "The Constant Wife." Last month, she brought a tough and vigorous sensibility to Anne Sullivan in "The Miracle Worker," for her own Torch Theater Company. This extraordinary breadth and range of work consistently reveals a serious student of the stage.
