MARY ANN BRADLEY
MARY ANN BRADLEY
Mary Ann Bradley hasn't missed a beat this year. As the charismatic muse and embodiment of music in Danny Buraczeski's Jazzdance from 2001 to 2005 (he called her "spectacular"), she dazzled in the company's final performance. She drilled through Astor Piazzolla's speedy, jagged strings; expressed the coy and beguiling side of Judy Garland's saucier songs, and swayed, folded and tangled with Eric Boone in a flow of seamless movement set to Cesaria Evora's plaintive ballads. But she's much more than all that jazz. Since Jazzdance folded, she has let Uri Sands' luscious movements pour like quicksilver from her body in TU Dance. And Zenon Dance Company has added her velvet aesthetic sensibility to its powerhouse collective. Exquisite in her incisiveness, gorgeous in her execution and nuanced in her expressiveness, Bradley infuses every move she makes with class and sophistication.
