Simon & Garfunkel, who have broken up more times than Mickey Rooney has been married, are putting on a show together again, with Xcel Energy Center as their destination on May 8.

The old friends, who started singing together in high school as Tom & Jerry in 1957, last harmonized at the X in 2003. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, pop's most successful duo of the 1960s, haven't released a studio album since 1970's swan song "Bridge Over Troubled Water." However, the Rock Hall of Famers' reunion shows have been the subject of two live albums -- 1982's "Concert in Central Park" and 2004's "Old Friends: Live on Stage."

Simon has had a fruitful, Grammy-winning solo career that landed him in the Rock Hall of Fame a second time; 2006's "Surprise" is his 10th and most recent recording. Garfunkel's solo efforts have been less distinguished.

Tickets to this St. Paul reunion, priced from $52 to $227, will go on sale at 10 a.m. March 13 at Ticketmaster outlets and the Xcel box office. Baby boomers may want to note that James Taylor and Carole King, those famous friends from the 1970s, will perform a sold-out concert May 25 at the X.
