YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES

Miley Cyrus wasn't there. Neither were the Jonas Brothers or Taylor Swift. But KDWB's annual Jingle Ball took on a decidedly tween flavor Sunday night at sold-out Xcel Energy Center. YouTube phenom Justin Bieber, the 15-year-old Canadian who makes the young girls swoon, was the hot attraction of the moment. Owl City, the stage name of Owatonna's Adam Young, is popular with tweens, too, thanks to his recent No. 1 song "Fireflies" and his emo lyrics about oceans, islands and, well, fireflies.
The biggest names on the Jingle Ball bill were sixth-season "American Idol" champ Jordin Sparks, who sang "No Air"; Latino rapper Pitbull, who closed the show, and controversial 2009 "Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert, who served as a host. Rounding out the evening were "Bubbly" popster Colbie Caillat, emo rockers Boys Like Girls (making their second consecutive Jingle Ball appearance), party boys 3OH!3 and suave R&B popster Jay Sean, who sent "Down" up to No. 1 this year.
