Mexico charges beauty clinic owner who allegedly botched rock star's plastic surgery

Last update: November 13, 2009 - 10:14 PM

MEXICO CITY - Authorities have announced charges against the owner of a beauty clinic that allegedly performed a botched buttock job on Mexican rock star Alejandra Guzman.

The charges against Valentina de Albornoz carry a possible prison sentence of four to 13 years.

Guzman says she was hospitalized with an infection from buttocks injections she had to make herself "more beautiful."

Mexico City prosecutors announced the charges of causing injuries Friday, two days after Guzman filed a criminal complaint against the doctor who administered the treatment and the owner of the clinic where it was carried out.

Latin Grammy winner Guzman says she now wants to raise awareness about cosmetic procedures so other women don't suffer.
