Everyone raves about the legendary Jucy Lucy, available at several neighborhood bars in Minneapolis, for its double patty surrounding molten cheese. Here's a contrary opinion. That cheese squeezes out on the first bite and, at best, burns your thumbs. At worst, it torches your lips and tongue. As for the meat? Not worth the trouble.
You cannot beat the deal for the $1.99 Monday-night burger special at the Cardinal Bar on E. 38th St. in south Minneapolis. Don't expect filet mignon, but this is a great cheeseburger at a great price. I will never bother with another Jucy Lucy.
