Is it the economy? The fancy French title of their new album? Or because leader Pete Wentz married Ashlee Simpson?

Whatever the reason, Fall Out Boy is downsizing in 2009 by playing May 17 at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul.

It wasn't long ago that the emo-rockers from Chicago packed Xcel Energy Center, but the last time around, in 2007, they played to a half-full Target Center.

"Folie a Deux," the quartet's fourth album, was released in December, peaking at No. 8 on Billboard. And apparently radio didn't care much for the band's current single "I Don't Care," which peaked at No. 21 and is falling in the charts.

Per usual, Fall Out Boy will have a parade of opening acts: Cobra Starship, All Time Low, Metro Station and Hey Monday.

Tickets, priced at $35, go on sale Jan. 31 at Ticketmaster outlets and the Wilkins box office; the main floor is general admission, the balcony has reserved seats.
