John Legend will kick of world tour at Northrop

IN CONCERT AT NORTHROP: John Legend will kick off his world tour Nov. 19 in Minneapolis at the Northrop Auditorium. The Grammy-winning piano man is promoting his new CD, "Evolver," out Oct. 28. The album features Kanye West, Estelle and Brandy. Opening the concert will be Raphael Saadiq.

'NARNIA' HEIR AT GUTHRIE: British biographer and film producer Douglas Gresham, an heir of C.S. Lewis and the famous author's stepson, will speak at the Guthrie Theater Nov. 10. Gresham, who co-produced the film, "The Chronicles of Narnia," joins Guthrie leader Joe Dowling for an onstage conversation about work, family and his Christian faith. The chat is an adjunct to the production of "Shadowlands," which previews Nov. 1. The play is about Lewis' relationship with divorced American poet Joy Davidman, Gresham's mother. PLEA OFFER REJECTED: J. Michael Flanagan, an attorney for Britney Spears has rejected a plea offer of a year's probation and a $150 fine in her misdemeanor driver's license case. He said Spears would consider an offer to reduce the charge to an infraction and the fine to $10. The charge stems from the time she hit a parked car in August 2007 and left without notifying the owner.

INJURIES: A concert Tuesday night by My Morning Jacket was cut short in Iowa City, Iowa, when singer-guitarist Jim James fell about 30 minutes into the show. He was treated and released from the University of Iowa hospital. Linkin Park canceled its China tour because lead singer Chester Bennington has suffered a back injury.
