Radio K can booze it up all it wants now. The University of Minnesota's intoxicating radio station (770 AM, 100.7 or 104.5 FM) will hit the streets to celebrate its 21st anniversary this week, starting with its Forever Young Prom dance party at First Avenue on Saturday and including Thursday's Twin Peaks gig at 7th Street Entry and next Friday's Deafheaven show at the Skyway Theatre. Vinyl copies of its "Stuck on AM 8" compilation will be on sale at the shows, featuring in-studio tracks by Kurt Vile, the Cloud Nothings, Baths and more. …

KFAI and local label Soft Abuse host the Old Familiar Chime Guitar Festival at the Turf Club on Friday, a clustering of unique/experimental acoustic (and some electric) players, including Glenn Jones, Michael Chapman, Bill Orcutt and Spider John Koerner (8 p.m., $20-$25.). … You probably haven't heard of Kid Ukko, Civil Riot, Sodey or most of the other 22 bands playing the 11th annual Minneapolooza fest at the Fine Line on Saturday, and that's the point. The lineup includes at least a couple of known names, Carnage and Hastings 3000 ($12, 4 p.m.). …

The Suburbs will be down one original member but up some fresh blood starting with their Sept. 27 gig in the Cabooze's 40th anniversary series. Co-founder Beej Chaney is on leave tending to his health, but the band hired local innovator Jeremy Ylvisaker (Alpha Consumer, the Cloak Ox) to amp up the guitar work with Steve Brantseg. … Mason Jennings booked another two-night stand at First Ave, Dec. 5 and 6. The club also just announced two gigs by the Bob Mould Band, Jan. 30 and 31. …

Next up from Doomtree: Mike Mictlan's album "Hella Frreal" will drop Oct. 27, with such collaborators as Greg Grease, Cecil Otter, 2% Muck, Aby Wolf and Lazerbeak. The first track, "Clapp'd," debuted online this week and is a real doozy. … Two of Saturday's homegrown Festival Palomino acts, Low and Trampled by Turtles, are featured on "Dead Man's Town," the new tribute to Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA," also with Jason Isbell and Blitzen Trapper. …

A new documentary on pioneering Minneapolis label Amphetamine/Reptile Records, "The Color of Noise," is premiering in special screenings across the country, including one at the CMJ Music Fest next month and a local debut Oct. 15 at the Riverview Theater. Members of the Melvins, Cows, Helmet and Unsane are among those featured in it. Sounds scary.
