Brian Setzer, “Rockabilly Riot! All Original” (Surfdog)

Setzer deserves plenty of credit — for the ’80s rockabilly revival with the Stray Cats, the swing revival of the ’90s with the Brian Setzer Orchestra and classics such as “Rock This Town.” But here, the Minneapolis-based rocker reminds us what a crafty lyricist he is, spinning memorable rockabilly tales about Elvis-influenced “Calamity Jane,” Flatfoot Sam in “Vinyl Records” and the car-obsessed narrator of “I Shoulda Had a V-8.” He’s at his best in “The Girl With the Blues in Her Eyes,” where he channels Gene Vincent filtered through Paul McCartney.

“Arrows” is the new video by the Seattle singer known simply as Fences. But it features Macklemore & Ryan Lewis in a show-stealing cameo. We first see Macklemore trading places with an animal in a circus cage surrounded by cameras and reporters. Later he raps about being blinded by the limelight as he’s perched on a diving board above a pool filled with Rolling Stone magazines. http://tinyurl.com/pseosjx Jon Bream
