IMAGINE DRAGONS & ATMOSPHERE

Saturday: Atmosphere, our hometown hip-hop heroes, are accustomed to playing big outdoor shows; after all, they’ve headlined the Soundset festival in Shakopee several times. But this big outdoor stadium gig is new for Imagine Dragons, which just 16 months ago played down the block from TCF Bank Stadium at the Varsity Theater for 700 people. Expect 27,000 now that the Grammy-winning “Radioactive” hitmakers’ career has exploded. Even though Imagine Dragons have released only one album, they stand as America’s biggest rock band of the moment. That’s why Major League Baseball has tapped the Las Vegas rockers to headline the free 2014 All-Star Concert as part of the festivities leading up to the All-Star Game at Target Field. This will be the band’s sixth Twin Cities appearance — from the Triple Rock to the Basilica Block Party (yes, that’s outdoors) to Xcel Energy Center — since its best-selling “Night Visions” was released in September 2012. Read an interview with Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds (above) in Thursday’s Variety section. (7:30 p.m. Sat., TCF Bank Stadium, University of Minnesota, sold out.)
