RUN WESTY RUN

Friday-Saturday: By the time Hüsker Dü broke up and the Replacements and Soul Asylum broke nationally in the late 1980s, Run Westy Run took over as one of the cool go-to rock bands to see on a Friday night in Minneapolis. The trippy, high-adrenaline punks recorded for the SST and Twin/Tone labels with producers like Peter Buck and Grant Hart and built up a good live reputation before splintering in the late ’90s as Kraig Johnson joined Golden Smog and the Jayhawks, and his brother Kirk formed Iffy. Fifteen years since the last Westies gig, they are finally getting together for another wild Friday night, with a second show added Saturday across town. (9 p.m. Fri., First Avenue, 701 1st Av. N., Mpls., $20; and 9 p.m. Sat., Turf Club, 1601 W. University Av., St. Paul, $25, eTix.com.)
