Now that Rivers Cuomo has finished his degree at Harvard, he's not going to stoop to writing hit singles for Weezer just to please his record label. At least, that's the message of Weezer's new single, "Pork & Beans." He sings about working with Timbaland to reach the top of the charts. Then on the catchy chorus, with its loud, fuzzy guitars, he declares: "I'm going to do the things I want to do/I ain't got a thing to prove to you." "Pork & Beans" is lovably sarcastic and as hooky as "Buddy Holly." Weezer's new album -- "Weezer," its third CD with said title -- is due June 24.
