Downtown restaurant to host benefit for burned Sauk Rapids teen

Dierks Bentley will play an album-release set in connection with a benefit for Taylor Strand

Last update: May 7, 2008 - 12:09 PM

Country music star Dierks Bentley is setting off on a cross-country tour to promote his new "Greatest Hits//Every Mile A Memory 2003 - 2008" album, and will stop in Minneapolis Tuesday to play at the Hard Rock Cafe on Hennepin Avenue.

In connection with the album-release party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hard Rock Café, the restaurant is staging a benefit for a Sauk Rapids teenager who was critically burned in a fire pit accident last month.

Bentley takes the stage at 11:30 a.m., followed by a question-answer session, photo opportunities and a raffle for a guitar autographed by the fast-rising county singer. Proceeds from the benefit will be used to help the family of Taylor Strand pay medical bills.

Taylor, 13, was burned over 80 percent of her body when she fell into a fire pit on April 5. She has undergone five surgeries, the latest one on Monday. She is recovering at Hennepin County Medical in Minneapolis.
