Cameo critic: Jordin Sparks

Last update: April 25, 2008 - 12:07 PM

"American Idol" champ Jordin Sparks was supposed to open for Alicia Keys Wednesday at Target Center, but the 18-year-old has voice problems and has been ordered to rest for a month. Before she took ill, we asked her to talk about her favorite book, movie, CD or TV show of the moment. She generously discussed something in each category.

JON BREAM

"I'm obsessed with the book 'Redeeming Love' by Francine Rivers. I have read it like 10 times -- not even kidding -- and it's like 500 pages long. I actually feel the emotions. It's a love story, obviously, but it's just about a girl who keeps running away and the guy never gives up on her, and it's just really sweet.

"And then for teens, there is this series called the 'Twilight Saga' by Stephenie Meyer, and it's so good. It's kind of an easy read.

"As far as movies go, I just saw 'Juno,' and I thought that was amazing. It was so funny, so really good.

"As for CDs, I really love John Mayer's 'Continuum.' I still listen to that CD like all the time.

"TV show? I'm still a kid and I love 'SpongeBob SquarePants.' I can't get enough of that. Ever since it came out, it's just always made me laugh, and always put me in a good mood. Me and my friends, we quote some things sometimes, and we're just crazy. I just love the show."
