Atmosphere's fall tour will help bridge victims

Band will donate $1 from each online ticket sale. A Twin Cities date will be announced later.

Last update: August 15, 2007 - 8:31 PM

Benefit gigs are popping up all over the Twin Cities music scene to help victims of the Aug. 1 bridge collapse, and now one of the biggest acts in town plans to raise money on the road: Hip-hop stalwarts Atmosphere plan to donate $1 from every ticket sold off their website for a fall tour beginning Sept. 14-15 in Duluth.

Tickets for the 26-city outing, dubbed the "Everybody Loves a Clown Tour," went on sale Wednesday at atmosphere. ducatking.com. A Minneapolis date will be announced later.

The bridge tragedy hit home at Atmosphere's record label, Rhymesayers Entertainment. Julie Graves, fiancée of Brother Ali's DJ Brandon Kelly (BK-One), was on the school bus in the incident and is still recovering from broken bones and other injuries.

Many other Twin Cities hip-hop acts also are trying to help bridge victims. Carnage, Desdamona, Unknown Prophets, Leroy Smokes and Bobby Hatfield have put together an Aug. 30 fundraiser at Foundation nightclub. Desdamona and Carnage also will perform with Unicus, Out of Bounds and others at a benefit Saturday night at the Dinkytowner Cafe.
