‘The Quiet Ones,’ ‘From the Rough’

Opening in two dozen theaters but unscreened for review is “The Quiet Ones” (PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and terror, sexual content, thematic material, language and smoking throughout). A British haunted-house film in the style of 1970s Hammer Studios shockers, it stars “Mad Men’s” Jared Harris as a paranormal researcher whose team hopes to rouse a real ghost. As fright film fans know, this is never a good idea.

Also debuting locally is “From The Rough” (PG for language and thematic elements), a fact-inspired sports tale starring Tajari P. Henson as the first black woman to coach a collegiate men’s golf team (Brooklyn Center).
