‘Single Moms Club’

Can we take whatever it is that makes Tyler Perry so prolific and give some to David Fincher? Perry’s 34th film as a director, “Single Moms Club,” (PG-13 for some sexual material and thematic content) arrives in theaters Friday, silently, through the back door, and without press screenings, as is his custom. It’s all about honoring hardworking single moms, as played by Nia Long, Amy Smart, Cocoa Brown and Wendy McLendon-Covey. According to the trailer, single mothers mostly live in exceptional material comfort, have ample time to attend “support group” wine parties, and have innumerable model-buff suitors. If that’s not to your liking, he’ll probably be out with “Madea’s St. Patrick’s Day” directly. We’ll post a review at startribune.com/movies when one becomes available.
