The Dish: The Bourne Afterthought?

Last update: July 3, 2008 - 2:09 PM

The Bourne Afterthought?

Even though the last Bourne title included the final-sounding "Ultimatum," series producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley have confirmed that a fourth film is in the works, pointed toward a 2010 release. Marshall said the plot would not be based on material by Robert Ludlum (seeing as how he wrote only three Bourne books), and would send Jason Bourne to South America. Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass, director of versions two and three, are on board.

'Taxi' to nowhere

"Gonzo" director Alex Gibney might have won the Oscar for his documentary "Taxi to the Dark Side," but he's steaming mad at producer/distributor ThinkFilm, whose solvency is sketchy. "The fact that they were fiscally unable to capitalize on the Oscar infuriated me for two reasons: They had been in financial difficulty for some time and hadn't disclosed it to us; and we won the Oscar, and they still hadn't disclosed it to us," Gibney says. With no money for a marketing campaign, the highly acclaimed film made less than $250,000 in theaters.

The final reel

Roman Polanski has recruited Nicolas Cage and Pierce Brosnan to star in "The Ghost." ... Sarah Jessica Parker is in talks to star as a newly divorced mother in New York City (natch) in an adaptation of Karen Quinn's "The Ivy Chronicles." ... Helena Bonham Carter has joined Christian Bale in "Terminator Salvation." ... Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, a nephew of Ralph (Voldemort) Fiennes, plays the young Tom Riddle (aka the young Voldemort) in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince."
