The King speaks

Even James Cameron is complaining about the ubiquity of three-dimensional movies. "I do not think Hollywood is using the 3-D properly," he says, calling it "too automatic. It's one thing to shoot in 3-D and another to convert to 3-D," he said. Cameron called out two of the biggest moneymakers of the season as transgressors: " 'Man of Steel,' 'Iron Man 3' and all those movies should not necessarily be in 3-D. If you spend $150 million on visual effects, the film is already going to be spectacular." Mind you, Cameron's not going to stop using it, because he does it right.
