Fresh off his beatdown from Clint Eastwood, who told him to "shut his face," Spike Lee is seeing his World War II drama "Miracle at St. Anna" pop up on several Oscar-prediction lists. The directors got into it after Lee criticized Dirty Harry for leaving African-Americans out of his war films. "St. Anna," about four black soldiers trapped in an Italian town, is being mentioned as a contender alongside "Changeling," directed by a guy named Eastwood.
Who's downKatherine Heigl has been savaged for her comments about the TV show that launched her success on both small and big screen. Questioned about her omission from a list of candidates for Emmy nominations, Heigl declared she had taken her name out of consideration because the "Grey's Anatomy" writers hadn't given her good enough material. "It's an ungrateful slap in the face to the very writers responsible for her Emmy win in the first place," said a "Grey's" insider, pointing out that the show had bent over backward to accommodate Heigl's film schedule. That schedule includes a producing-starring stint in a film about polygamy refugee Carolyn Jessop, a role to which Heigl should now be able to bring a heightened sense of outrage and oppression.
