The Bounce: Who's up, down in Hollywood

Last update: October 11, 2007 - 5:28 PM

Who's up

Online movie writers who helped track down the guy responsible for the recent theft of "Indiana Jones"-related items were rewarded with an invitation to the set for a chat with Steven Spielberg about his many projects. Peter Sciretta of Slashfilm, among others, gleefully shared the best tidbits: The "Transformers 2" script is nearly finished, and shooting should start early next year; and Spielberg and Peter Jackson will each film a part of the "Tintin" trilogy, joining on the last segment. That's geek heaven right there, folks!

Who's down

Women in films. Even if Warner Bros. (see above) is blowing smoke, take a look at this week's movie lineup. You've got your George Clooney and your Brad Pitt. Then there's Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix. Throw in Sean Astin. Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman? Check, check and check. Only Cate Blanchett busts through the boys' club, and even she has to share the screen with the towering presence of Clive Owen. Hey, we didn't say it was bad for women watching films.
