Four museum-worthy artists from our state whose work is in demand around the world.

Artists love museums for the same reasons any visitor does -- the inspiration to be found in their collections, the excitement of new shows, their appreciation for the past, even their stylish gift stores. But unlike other visitors, most artists want museums to own their work. When a museum acquires a piece of art the artist gets a niche in history and the work is preserved for future viewers to study and enjoy. Museum acceptance is a sign of arrival, a certification of importance, and often a boost to an artist's career. Many Minnesota artists have work in museums around the world.
