Tag, you're it -- if you have an iPhone.
As of June 28, the "Mister Boffo" strip on the Star Tribune's comics pages will contain an emerging technology that links to -- well, just about anything, potentially.
After downloading a free app -- accessible via mobile devices at http://gettag.mobi -- readers can use their iPhones to scan a "tag" in the "Mister Boffo" strip and see an animated comic. The tags eventually could be used to link to ads, videos or other online content viewable by iPhone.
"We thought this was a silly, fun way to get people to look online," said creator Joe Martin, who lives in Lake Geneva, Wis. "I think the newspaper is going to become the new search engine."
