Family spotlight: New Year's Eve with kids

The Twin Cities area has several offerings for families to bring in 2013 with fun and flair.

NEW YEAR'S WITH KIDS

Toddlers and tweens need not put a damper on your New Year's festivities. The Twin Cities area has several offerings for families to bring in 2013 with fun and flair.

Get some exercise and throw a few snowballs at Lebanon Hills Regional Parks' celebration. Enjoy candle-lit ice skating, hiking, snowshoeing and the park's sled hill. (5-8 p.m. Mon. $8-$10. Lebanon Hills Regional Park, 860 Cliff Rd., Eagan. 651-554-6530.) The city of Maple Grove is hosting a Family New Year's Eve Party with music, dancing, ice skating, karaoke, board games and balloon drop at 9:45 p.m. (6-10 p.m. Mon. $9-$12. Put on a sequined ensemble and romp through exhibits such as "The Amazing Castle" and "Ball-o-Rama" at Sparkle-rama. This family New Year's Eve celebration offers music by Will Hale and the Tadpole Parade, snacks, and a magical countdown and ball drop at 8 p.m. (6-9 p.m. Mon. $14.
