Weekend options: Rehearsal for the sun hat and trowel

Last update: February 29, 2008 - 5:57 PM

REHEARSAL FOR THE SUN HAT AND TROWEL

The Home and Garden Show will put "spring" in your step on an otherwise dreary winter weekend. Celebrities, including Roger Cook of "This Old House" and Lee Snijders of HGTV's "Design on a Dime," will share the latest remodeling and design tips as well as home decor trends. There will be seminars and demonstrations on gardening, cooking, "green living" and more. Visit the "English Manor" exhibit, 10 different gardens, the plant sale, and find the latest products for your home and garden on "Innovation Avenue." The latest in Earth-friendly products and services are featured at the "Green Scene" area. (10 a.m.-10 p.m. today-Sat.; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sun. $4-$10. Minneapolis Convention Center, 1301 2nd Av. S., Mpls., www.homeandgardenshow.com.)

BALANCE YOUR YIN AND YANG

After you've cared for your home and garden, give a little attention to yourself at the Body Mind Life Expo. Check out presentations and exhibits on aromatherapy, vacation ideas, health care and healthy solutions for your home. Free seminars and workshops cover ways to feel and stay young, fitness without breaking a sweat, animal/pet communication, overcoming obstacles to personal happiness and more. Prize drawings and product giveaways. (10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sat.; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sun. $3-$6. Minneapolis Convention Center, 1301 2nd Av. S., Mpls. 612-798-7256. www.101expos.com.)

A LOOK INTO THE FACE OF EVIL

Sometimes it's necessary to look at and remember a great evil to ensure that it never returns. You'll have your chance at the Deadly Science: Creating the Master Race exhibit at the Science Museum of Minnesota. The exhibit explores eugenics and Nazi Germany's efforts to keep the "Aryan race" from being "polluted" by "inferiors." It led to genocide -- the calculated murder of millions of Jews and others. ($8.50-$11. 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m. today-Sat. and Thu.; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sun.; 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon.-Wed. Continuing through May 4. 120 W. Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul. 651-221-9444.)
