New St. Paul Irish pub

From the owners of Dixie's on Grand comes the adjacent Emmett's Public House. St. Paul's newest Irish pub opened on St. Patrick's Day. Emmett's features 30-plus Irish whiskeys, 14 taps and twists on classic Irish fare. If you didn't go too hard on St. Paddy's Day (or even if you did), don your greenest apparel and hit the pub's daily 3-6 p.m. happy hour.

It's all about that bass

Dubstep heavyweight Excision takes over the Skyway Theatre for a Saturday doubleheader. The Canadian bass monster dropped his metallic "Codename X" album last month and is touring his "Executioner" stage setup for the last time, with support from Los Angeles' Protohype and locally reared, California-based producer Minnesota. Ticket holders to the sold-out late show can catch local and regional DJs in Bar Fly from 7-9:30 p.m. when the matinee clears out.

5-9 p.m., $30, 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., sold out, March 28, 18-plus, 711 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls.,

Rare beer fest

There's no surer way to make a beer geek freak than uttering the word "rare." The Chop Liver crew chased elusive vintages, one-off and limited brews so those attending Saturday's Northern Lights Rare Beer Fest at the Minnesota History Center don't have to. Tickets to the second annual event include infinite samples (but let's be responsible) of hard-to-find beers from 30 breweries and catering from Bon Appetite, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Pints for Prostates.

7-10 p.m., March 28, $100 ($25 designated

driver), 21-plus, 345 W. Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul, www.rarebeerfest.com
