Beer shall flow in downtown St. Paul: The Bulldog will open its third Twin Cities location in Lowertown, possibly by early October. Owner Matt Lokowich has eyed St. Paul ever since the success of his second Bulldog in northeast Minneapolis (the original still sits in Uptown). He has an easy-to-love concept: connoisseur Belgian beers mixed with gourmet burgers and hot dogs. He's adding some welcome tweaks -- 40 tap beers this time, plus live music. The location, across from Mears Park at 237 E. 6th St., was supposed to be the home of A Night's Tale, but money dried up and that bar never even opened. Lokowich shouldn't have any such problems. The beer geeks wouldn't let him.
Rapping with Mary MackMinneapolis comedian Mary Mack takes her wares out to the 'burbs tonight for two shows at Rapids Bar & Grill. Mack is a different kind of comedian. First off, she sings. Dubbed a "folk humorist," you'll find Mack onstage with her trusty mandolin, squeaking out funny bits in her trademark high-as-a-chipmunk voice. She's branching out too. Check out her "hip-hop" video, "Street Heat," at marymackcomedy.com. (7:30 and 9:30 today, 133 Coon Rapids Blvd., Coon Rapids. $12. 763-746-5380. minnehahacomedyclub.com)
