Brew news in Minnetonka

Last weekend Excelsior Brewing Co. christened its revamped taproom near Lake Minnetonka with a grand opening party. While keeping its laid-back marina vibe, the west metro favorites' greatly expanded digs are an upgrade from its bare bones (albeit inviting) predecessor, plus there's a new patio for those sunny summer days.

Mainroom takeover

Raucous hip-hop collective Audio Perm takes over First Avenue's main room Saturday for another installment of its dance-party series. The deep-benched crew's bash features Audio Perm emcee Bobby Raps, budding DJ/producer Psymun, Tiiiiiiiiip, Adora Tokyo and guest host Allan Kingdom, who's fresh off an electric performance at Soundset last weekend.

Duluth gets new taproom

Excelsior wasn't the only Minnesota brewery toasting a new taproom Memorial Day weekend. Duluth mainstay Lake Superior Brewing Co. also cut the ribbon on its new beer hall just in time for tourist season.
