Wine
I love it when an under-$15 California cab turns out to be delicious. I'm even happier when the wine turns out to have been made by a Minnesotan, Mankato native Stephen Ross Dooley. The 2011 Flying Cloud Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon ($14) has a splendid balance of tasty dark red fruit, a touch of dust, just-firm-enough tannins and friendly acidity. Available at Dolce Vita, Liquor Time, Black Diamond, Domacin, Sunfish Cellars, Andy's Crossroads (Rochester) and others.
