KARE 11's Blake McCoy has the best hair, according to a website that looked at "Local Newsmen With the Best Hair by State." Fox 9's Tom Butler has the second best mane in Minnesota.

"It's quite an honor. I was as shocked as anybody else," said McCoy, without nearly enough sarcasm in his voice. He later contradicted that last comment. "There have been a lot of e-mails exchanged. No one is surprised. Everyone says it was a well-deserved honor."

Lots of locks are sticking up and changing colors on KARE's air, so I asked McCoy if his really is the best. "Evidently, if it's between me and …" said McCoy. I'm going to reduce the size of the target on McCoy's back by withholding that name.

As a child, McCoy's hair was "kind of sun-kissed blond that's turned brown over time. I was born in California. I'm a California boy." That explains all those shirtless Twitter photos.

It was hard to tell Wednesday if Butler's smile was bigger because of the silly fun related to his hair's national recognition. Someone told me his mother, Marlene, who lives in Seattle, laughed out loud when she heard about it.

I've had my hands in Butler's hair many times, beckoned by its fullness, ridiculous perfection and lack of obvious product.

Of course, I have a beef with getgoodhead.com's list. When are you going to recognize what's left on the heads of those guys with little or no hair? Given advances in "hair systems," you could also show those TV guys in the modern-day toupees some love, too, although it looks to me as if a couple slipped onto the list already.

And why didn't WCCO-TV's Frank Vascellaro make the cut? I smell sabotage from one of Vascellaro's former KARE colleagues.

I was at a party a couple of years ago when a KARE talent volunteered that he or she didn't believe that was all Vascellaro's suspiciously black hair. Having previously allowed my fingers to do the research, I assured that person it is all Vascellaro-grown hair and I doubted it was dyed. Sometime thereafter, when I was at an event with Vascellaro, I spotted a few gray hairs, which I posted in a photo on Twitter.

I'm into anchor hair enough that I'd pay to watch a Periscope stream of the construction involved in the shock atop ABC "World News Tonight" anchor David Muir, which has its own Twitter parody account.

Prince steps up. Who's next?

I am beyond impressed with Prince for being the first, and so far only, performer to announce plans to play a concert in the challenged city of Baltimore. Where's everybody else?

"Prince will play a surprise 'Rally 4 Peace' concert at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore on Sunday, following the unrest last week over the death of Freddie Gray," reads Colin Campbell's story in the Baltimore Sun.

The Mother's Day concert will feature a song Prince has written about Baltimore. The lyrics released also reference Michael Brown, the Ferguson, Mo., man killed by a police officer. I hope there were unreleased lyrics that note the lousy police work that ended with the death of a 12-year-old Cleveland boy Tamir Rice, who was holding a toy gun.

Not to be too picky, but surely the promoters of this concert won't charge residents who live in Gray's ZIP code and connected depressed areas the same as those coming from the tonier parts of Maryland, D.C. and Virginia.

A portion of the proceeds from the concert will reportedly benefit local Baltimore-based youth charities.

Interesting that the art for this Baltimore benefit does not show Prince wearing the three-lensed shades designed by Minnesota-born, now NY-based twins Coco & Breezy.

"No idea!" why that is, e-mailed the Sun's Campbell: "Soon we'll be calling him 'The Artist Formerly Seen With a Third Eye …' "

Harris Faulkner gets her due

Fox Network's Harris Faulkner, anchor of a Sunday evening newscast and seen weekdays on "Outnumbered," is considered a rising star, according to Associated Press TV writer David Bauder.

All together, viewers who remember Faulkner from KSTP-TV: Like duh.
