Charlie Brown's pet beagle, Snoopy, may get his own California license plate if another Mr. Brown approves. The state Senate this week OK'd a bill that would allow the California Cultural and Historical Endowment to use revenue from the plate to fund small capital projects at museums.
The bill now awaits Gov. Jerry Brown's signature.
The bill would transfer the endowment from the California State Library to the Natural Resources Agency. After founding a Santa Rosa museum in honor of Charles Schulz, Jean Schulz, widow of the "Peanuts" cartoonist, recognized the need for additional museum funding, according to the California Association of Museums. The association is receiving royalty-free rights to establish the plate. At least 9,200 vehicle owners who have expressed interest in a Snoopy plate. The plates would cost $50 a piece.
Lohan's mom arrested on DWI charge
Lindsay Lohan's mother is facing an aggravated drunken driving charge in New York following a traffic stop on Long Island. State police say Dina Lohan, 50, was stopped on the Northern State Parkway in Nassau County after troopers clocked her driving a BMW at 77 mph in a 55-mph zone. She took a breath test that pegged her blood alcohol level at 0.2 percent, police said. That's more than twice New York's legal limit of 0.08 percent. Lohan was brought to a state police barracks in Farmingdale, issued tickets for driving while intoxicated and speeding and then released to a "sober third party," state police said. She is due in court Sept. 24.
save the date: Seven-time Grammy winning trio Lady Antebellum has secured a concert date in the Twin Cities, booking Target Center for Dec. 5 and is bringing along a rising country star on the newly announced tour. Joining the trio is Kacey Musgrave, whose debut album this spring "Same Trailer Different Park" started at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, making her the first solo female artist in five years to open at the top with her first release. Musgrave's Top 10 single "Merry Go 'Round" was recently certified gold, and she has been nominated for six 2013 Country Music Association Awards, including Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. Also on the bill is Kip Moore, whose recent No. 1 hit, "Hey Pretty Girl," follows two consecutive No. 1 songs off his debut album, "Up All Night." Tickets go on sale Sept. 20 at the Target Center box office and at www.cidentertainment.com/ladyantebellum. Lady A's most recent stop in the Twin Cities was in March 2012, also at Target Center.
