The New Jersey man who won last week's $338 million Powerball jackpot paid $30,000 in unpaid child support Monday in advance of a court appearance in Passaic to satisfy an outstanding warrant. Wearing a zip-down gray sweater, Pedro Quezada spoke through a Spanish-language interpreter during the brief hearing.

Quezada is the father of five and owed approximately $29,000 in child support, according to authorities. However, the child support payments were only for three of those children. Passaic County state Superior Court Judge Ernest M. Caposela noted that the sole purpose of Monday's proceeding was to review Quezada's past debt and bring it up to date. Any modification to the current $141-a-week payment schedule must be requested through a separate legal motion. Quezada told the judge that the children at issue would be coming to live with him. The children's mother was not present at Monday's hearing.

CBS correspondent moving to ABC

Byron Pitts, a 15-year veteran of CBS News, is moving to ABC News, where he will be the network's chief national correspondent and a substitute anchor. ABC announced the move Monday. Pitts has been the chief national correspondent for "CBS Evening News" for the last four years. He joined the network in 1997, initially as a correspondent for its affiliate news service. He has been a contributor to the acclaimed Sunday night news show "60 Minutes," filing 23 reports in the last seven years. Pitts is expected to start at ABC in a few weeks.

conan signs extension with tbs: TBS, which announced Monday that it had extended the contract of its signature star, Conan O'Brien, until November 2015. While his old network, NBC, is in the midst of the latest late-night upheaval, trying to smooth a transition from Jay Leno to Jimmy Fallon at "The Tonight Show," TBS is promoting O'Brien's success with young viewers and emphasizes O'Brien's reach on the Internet, claiming that his show leads late-night entertainment in online activity and engagement, with 8.3 million followers on Twitter and 2 million on Facebook.

A side trip for cruise: Tom Cruise took time off from promoting his latest movie in Brazil by visiting Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro and meeting former Brazilian soccer star Zico. Cruise posed for photos and said it "would be an honor" to make it to the 2014 World Cup final at the famed venue. He received an autographed ball from Zico, and said he would message friend David Beckham about his meeting with the former Brazilian playmaker, saying he would be "jealous."
