BEDFORD, N.Y. - Family and friends gathered Saturday at a modest stone church in a hamlet north of New York City for the funeral of Mary Richardson Kennedy. Mourners included Susan Sarandon, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Edward James Olmos, John McEnroe and Paul Shaffer. Glenn Close sang and "Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David offered remembrances, according to a funeral program. Mary's estranged husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., delivered the eulogy.
Speaking to reporters outside St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church before the service, Mary's sister-in-law and close friend, Kerry Kennedy, recalled her as "brilliant" and "beautiful."
"She cared so very, very deeply about everybody around her," she said. But she added that Kennedy had fought a lifelong struggle against depression.
The 52-year-old architectural designer and environmentalist was found dead of a suicide Wednesday at the family's estate in Bedford. Her death followed a difficult two years, during which her husband filed for divorce and she was charged twice with drunken driving.Zuckerberg updates status to married
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan were married Saturday at a small ceremony at his Palo Alto, Calif., home. The wedding took place in Zuckerberg's back yard before fewer than 100 guests, who all thought they were there to celebrate Chan's graduation.
