Readers recommendations: 'Baseball as a Road to God' by John Sexton and 'Stories' by Anton Chekhov

Will Weaver of Bemidji, Minn., writes:

“Baseball as a Road to God,” by John Sexton. Deep thoughts on a game with no time clock, and occasional miracles of athleticism, numerology and geometry. Reading this book in summer is like eating raspberries in season. And “Stories,” by Anton Chekhov. Deep thoughts on the human condition through character-rich short fiction. Nothing like a good short story to clear the head before bed.
