You might want to schedule your trip to the cabin for later in July, or even August, because Hamline University is hosting a children's and young-adult reading festival next week that sounds worth sticking around for.

Nationally acclaimed authors include Newbery Award-winner Kate DiCamillo, National Book Award winner Will Alexander, and beloved local writers Phyllis Root and John Coy. The readings, which are free, begin Friday and continue through July 21.

• Minneapolis writer Jack El-Hai, author of "The Lobotmist" and other books, has two books being published this fall. "Non-Stop: A Turbulent History of Northwest Airlines," will be published in November by the University of Minnesota Press. And "The Nazi and the Psychiatrist" will be published by Public Affairs on Sept. 10.

• "Dance," poems by Lightsey Darst, will be published in September by Coffee House Press. Darst won a Minnesota Book Award for her first collection, "Find the Girl."
