"Irish America Reawakening: The Eoin McKiernan Story," a memoir/biography by his daughter, Deirdre McKiernan Hetzler, has been published by the Canadian publisher Borealis Press (not to be confused with Borealis Books, the imprint of the Minnesota Historical Society Press).

Eoin McKiernan was an early scholar in Irish Studies and the founder of the Irish American Cultural Institute; he devoted his life to preserving the Irish culture. He studied Gaelic language in Ireland and moved to St. Paul in 1960 to teach at the University of St. Thomas. He died in 2004.

"The Lighthouse Road," by Peter Geye, is now out in paperback from Unbridled Books. Geye, the author of "Safe From the Sea," lives in Minneapolis.

• "When a Dad Says, 'I Love You,' " a picture book by Douglas Wood and Jennifer A. Bell, has been published by Simon & Schuster. Wood lives near St. Cloud, and Bell lives in Minneapolis.

• "A Beacon So Bright," a biography of Laurence McKinley Gould, has been written by Eric Hillemann and published by Carleton College. Gould was the second-in-command of the 1928 Byrd expedition to Antarctica and the fourth president of Carleton. Hillemann is the Carleton archivist.

"Survival Schools: The American Indian Movement and Community Education in the Twin Cities," by Julie L. Davis, will be published in July by the University of Minnesota Press. Davis teaches at the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University in central Minnesota.

"Invisibility," a young-adult fantasy by Andrea Cremer and David Levithan, has been published by Philomel. Cremer, the author of the Nightshade series, recently moved to New York City from St. Paul, where she taught history at Macalester College.
