How much do you love New York?

You can get a 26-pound book with a $15,500 price tag.

Last update: January 28, 2008 - 9:51 AM

Promoters of "New York," a 26-pound book just released in the United Kingdom, say its publisher is known for "books with mile-high price tags." Yep. That would be the "Columbus" edition of "New York" at $15,500. For this you get a 16 1/2-by-12 1/2-inch tome covered in "embossed Setalux Italian silk" and encased in a "smoked acrylic skyscraper" more than 18 inches tall. The book has articles and photos about the Big Apple, including snaps by such celebrities as Annie Leibovitz, Patrick Demarchelier and David Bailey. If you're suffering from sticker shock, check out the "Liberty" edition at $4,500 or the "Lenape" edition at $3,500.
