Set list & more thoughts about Tim McGraw, Brantley Gilbert at the fair

Tim McGraw set a record Monday at the State Fair grandstand. He became the first headliner to be part of two consecutive back to back sellouts.

In 2010, it was rockers  Rush and McGraw sellouts, the first time that happened since the grandstand was reconfigured in 2003. This time, it was rap star Macklemore and McGraw.

Opening act Brantley Gilbert was outspoken, to no one’s surprise. He addressed breaking up two weeks ago with fiancée Jana Kramer, the rising country singer, without mentioning her by name. “I just recently became a bachelor,” he said before singing “More Than Miles.” “You never heard so many so happy about a breakup in anybody’s life.”

He introduced “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do” with a middle-finger in the air. The self-styled bad boy ranted about lots of other stuff, making Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Ronnie Van Zant seem like a Boy Scout.

Gilbert was funny, too. After calling himself a redneck, he warned: “If my blood pressure goes up, I’ll start acting like Miley Cyrus in this sumabitch. I’m a biker. My ass don’t move like Luke Bryan’s. That’s impressive.”

Gilbert certainly made McGraw seem like a wuss by comparison, as my review discussed.

Here is what McGraw and his revamped band performed Monday at the grandstand:

Where the Green Grass Grows/ All I Want Is a Life/ Down on the Farm/ How Bad Do You Want It/ Everywhere/ Southern Girl/ Just to See You Smile/ Mexicoma/ Friend of a Friend/ Highway Don’t Care/ Two Lanes of Freedom/ Real Good Man/ The Cowboy in Me/ Something Like That/ Felt Good on My Lips/ Live Like You Were Dying ENCORE One of Those Nights/ Indian Outlaw/ I Like It, I Love It/ Truck Yeah
