If the thought of D'Angelo playing First Avenue twice in one summer seemed too good to be true, it was. The reclusive R&B genius has canceled Tuesday's Minneapolis date with his live band due to a medical emergency. Per the First Ave website: "He expresses his sincere regret due to this unfortunate circumstance. More information is forthcoming."

Refunds will be given out automatically to fans who bought them online, or else they can be had in person at the Depot Tavern next door to First Ave for those who bought them in person at any ticket outlet.

It's not yet clear if D'Angelo is canceling the rest of his gigs this week, which includes a date at Chicago's House of Blues and San Francisco's Outside Lands Festival, but fans can probably expect those to be put off, too. He played one of his first shows in a decade at First Ave in June, a well-received performance with ?uestlove of the Roots for his backer.
