"We're gonna go back to work," Suburbs guiding light Chan Poling said Friday morning via video on Kickstarter, as his band wrapped up a monthlong campaign to fund their first album in 27 years.

Which also means ... it's time to get out the golf clubs. Three backers paid $1,000 to hit the links with Poling and drummer Hugo Klaers.

In the end, 1,051 backers pledged a total of $73,199 in the Kickstarter campaign, which blew past its $65,000 goal late Wednesday. Two people even paid $10,000 plus to get a personal Suburbs show.

The campaign was the biggest yet by a Minnesota band on Kickstarter. (With one possible asterisk: former Twin Cities singer Jordis Unga, now based in L.A., raised nearly $76K last year to record her debut album, which is nearly done, she reported last week.)

The album, "Si Sauvage," is due for release right before the 'Burbs play the State Fair Grandstand Aug. 30 as part of a Minnesota Music-on-a-Stick concert that includes Trampled by Turtles, Mason Jennings, P.O.S. and the Chalice. Meanwhile, the single "Turn the Radio On" is already getting airplay. And no doubt you'll be hearing a lot of the band's old hit "Love Is the Law," too, as the Aug. 1 date for same-sex marriage in Minnesota approaches.
