You loved her in "Pretty in Pink," "Sixteen Candles" and "The Breakfast Club," and you might have even enjoyed her books or her recent TV stint in ABC's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." But are you going to like Molly Ringwald as a jazz singer?

Find out April 23 when the Molly Ringwald Quartet makes its local debut with two shows at the Dakota. Go to www.dakotacooks.com for tickets, priced $35 (7 p.m.) and $25 (9 p.m.).

Singing isn't exactly a new thing for Ringwald, 45. She sang in her dad's jazz band as a kid and has starred in Broadway musicals such as "Cabaret" and "Sweet Charity." Oh, and she also sings "Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love)," the theme song to "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." All you John Hughes movie-weaned Gen X-ers can admit it, though: Even if she's a hack singer, you kind of still want to be there, right?
