The worst-kept secret in the local-media world has been officially confirmed: After 12 years at Fox 9 News, Jason Matheson will be leaving to increase his profile at 107.1 FM, the MyTalk station. Matheson's last day at Fox will be Feb. 28, he confirmed Friday.

He and his on-air radio partner, Alexis Thompson, will move from mid-mornings on MyTalk to the higher profile 5:30-9 a.m. shift, starting March 4. Margery Punnett will move to 9 a.m. Station manager Dan Seeman said they are hunting for a partner for Punnett.

Seeman has been a long time fan of Matheson,

"He's a pretty big time talent," Seeman said. "He's really associated with pop culture and entertainment news, which is what we do."
