Theater stars Greta Oglesby and Sally Wingert have been tapped to host the Guthrie Theater’s 50th anniversary gala performance in June, the theater announced Thursday.

The two performers starred together in “Appomattox” last fall, with Wingert playing Mary Todd Lincoln to Oglesby’s Elizabeth Keckley. The two have strong associations with the theater.

Oglesby wowed Guthrie audiences with her stellar turn as the title character in Tony Kushner’s “Caroline, or Change” in 2009. She also sang as the lead in “The Amen Corner,” a Penumbra Theatre co-production, and revealed her comedic side last year in “The Sunshine Boys.”

Since 1985, Wingert has appeared in 75 Guthrie productions and has performed on Broadway and in London. She is currently starring in the theater’s production of “Other Desert Cities,” which previews Feb. 9.

The anniversary celebration takes place June 22nd and 23rd. It will feature actors, writers, directors and luminaries who have been associated with a playhouse that galvanized the American regional theater movement.
