Frances McDormand in her Oscar-winning performance as Marge in "Fargo."
Tan Sierra! Tan Sierra! Joel and Ethan Coen will be exec producers on a potential hour-long series for FX, co-produced with MGM TV, which owns the "Fargo" title as part of its library. Deadline Hollywood reports that the pilot will be written by Noah Hawley, a former writer for Fox's "Bones" who also created the ABC series "My Generation" (canceled after two episodes) and "The Unusuals" (which ran one season).
MGM took a previous stab at this in 2003, with a pilot starring Edie Falco as pregnant police chief Marge Gunderson and directed by Kathy Bates, but without the Coens' involvement. It ended up in the wood-chipper. We "Fargo" superfans wish them better luck this time, but they'd better use only Old Dutch brand potato chips on the set if they want any cred around here. And hey -- why not make it in Minnesota as well? To cop a phrase from Jerry Lundegaard, we're cooperatin' here.
